One day there was a teenager called Nick who lived in an orphanage because his parents died in a car accident when he was a child. He had classes in the orphanage but he also went to the university to study chemistry because his parents paid it before they died.
The classes finished at 6 pm and he was going to his room to finish a previous experiment. When he was arriving at the orphanage he said hello to all his friends and he entered to his room. Nick started to finish the experiment but it fell to the floor. He went to the toilet for some paper and when he touched the liquid…
He fainted, and when he woke up, he didn’t know where he was. Everything looked as if he was in the future, so he asked to a man: “What year are we now?” , and he answered: “We are in the 22”. Nick relaxed after hearing the answer. The streets had the same names so he started looking for the orphanage.
When he arrived at the orphanage, there was a robots shop. He went inside and saw a girl. He asked: “Where is the orphanage?”. She answered: “That place isn’t in the city since one thousand years ago”. Nick was surprised, so he said: “In what year are we?”. The girl said: “in 3022”. That couldn’t be possible.
Some moments later, after talking to the girl, she couldn’t believe what happened to Nick. She told him: “Do you want to sleep in my house for the first day?”. Nick wanted, so they became friends. After some days living in the future and trying to find a way to go back to his real life, each time he was liking more and more the future.
In these days, a lot of things happened: he went to the future, he found a place to live, and he met Charlotte, the girl in the robot shop. Charlotte and Nick started doing experiments to go to the past, and Charlotte saw how Nick was changing every time he came from the past.
The day when Nick was going to go to the past he said: “I don’t want to go because I feel better living here without having to remember what happened to me in the past”. Nick ran out of the house. Charlotte got paralized and after a few seconds she understood everything. She started looking for him, and she found him under a bridge.
Charlotte stopped and she thought about what she was going to say. Then she went with Nick and they and they started talking. With a sweet voice, she said: “Nick, you know that you have to go to your real time. Because if you don’t go you will change the future of all the people and all the people that love you will not know anything about you”. Nick stayed thinking for some time, and finally he answered…
“That’s right, what would my friends think about me? I have to go!”. They went back to Charlotte’s home. Nick was ready to touch the liquid, but he wanted to say goodbye to Charlotte before he went to his real life. He gave a hug to Charlotte and finally, he touched the liquid.
Some years later …
He was living his dream life. He had a house in New York and he became one of the most important scientists in the world. He came back from his laboratory and he lay down in his bed. He started to reflect on what happened to him and reminisce when he was a teenager and met Charlotte. And at that moment he decided to visit her.
